Service description

  • SHHA is a government housing programme which assist low and middle lower income households with provision and construction on a subsidized basis.

Requirements for loan application

·Must be a citizen of Botswana

·Employed individuals/households within the income bracket of P4 400.00 to P52 000.00 per annum (or P366.66 to P  4 333.00 on monthly basis). Please note that where applicant is married, spouse income should be taken into consideration in assessing eligibility.

· Self-employed individuals/households such as business persons and farmers within the same income bracket.

· Common law lease and certificate of customary land grant holders.

· Individuals must be between 18years old and 60 years old.

·  An applicant or spouse must not have benefited from SHHA loan before in designated Urban and Non-Township areas where the SHHA programme is in operation.

· Plot holders who are over the age of 60, or those who are unable to afford repayment of the loan may access SHHA loans provided that they have a Suretor.

· Individuals married out of Community of property will not be considered for SHHA loans separately.

How do I apply for the service? (turnkey & House improvement)

TURNKEY LOAN

·Plans are available at the office at a fee of P50.00

·Payslip copy or affidavit.

Certified copy of omang

Certified copy of land board certificate

·Copy of marriage certificate if married.

·Verification of employment form / confirmation of employment

·Verification of self-employment form

·Bank statement for self-employed applicant.

HOME IMPROVEMENT LOAN

TO SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING;

·Certified copy of Omang.

·Certified copy of  Common law lease and certificate of customary land grant holders.

·Must have approved house plan.

·Payslip copy or affidavit.

·Copy of marriage certificate if married.

·Verification of employment form

·Verification of self-employment form

·Bank statement for self-employed applicant.

·Quotation for used and needed building materials.

·Quotation for all labour costs.

·Copy of trade licence if self-employed.

·Forms may be filled at SHHA office in Rural Administration Centre

·More than 1000 applicants have benefited from SHHA since inception in 2002

·Currently the waiting list is 607 and keeps on adding up as applications are approved on monthly basis

What is your annual budget (turnkey & House improvement)

·They is no fixed budget for both loans

Maintenance

Building Maintenance

Palapye RAC – Office No. M36

Maintenance Section – Architecture & Building Services Department

Customer reports all their maintenance requirements to Maintenance Section or these can be brought into office by maintenance crew through routine inspections

This Service is available to customers staying in council institutional Houses or Council facilities

Blockage Removal

Customer reports all blockages to Maintenance Section – Architecture & Building Services Department. Reporting can be done in person or through telephone. Telephone Numbers: 4920877/879

This Service is available to customers staying in council institutional Houses or Council facilities

Routine maintenance

Customer reports all their maintenance requirements to Maintenance Section or these can be brought into office by maintenance crew through routine inspections

Building Control

Issuance of Building Permits

Palapye RAC – Office No. M38

Building Control Section – Architecture & Building Services Department

Customer makes an application for Building Permit. Required to submit copies of all necessary drawings, Application forms & Proof of Plot Ownership. All other requirements/ clarifications may obtained from Building Control office M38

This Service is available to the general public or any other person willing to carry out any Building Construction development

Inspections

Customers make booking for inspections from Building Control office M38. This office will only carry out inspections on developments that have building permits issued by Building Control

This Service is available to the general public or any other person carrying out Building Construction development

Occupation Permits Issuance

Customers make booking for Final inspections from Building Control office M38. This office will only issue Occupation Permits on developments that have building permits issued by Building Control and all stages of the project were inspected by council/ or council had issued a waiver on such inspections

This Service is available to the general public or any other person who had just completed Building Construction development

 

 

 

 

 

Development Section (Quantity Surveying Division)

Payment of invoices or claims

Quantity Surveying Division – Architecture & Building Services Department

Customer submits claims or makes requests for payments and council to do inspections on all works done.

Contractor is expected to book for inspections where they are no scheduled monthly meetings and submit his claims for workdone thereafter

Suppliers of building materials are expected to submit their invoices once all deliveries have been done and confirmed.

Running tenders for construction works are advertised in the government gazette, one public newspaper and Sub-Council Notice Board for ease access to members of the public or prospective bidders
